NEW FOR 2012 Last year we completed several improvements to the Campsite. Some were obvious and some were not. This year we are again aiming to further improve the campsite and its facilities. We have outlined below some of the changes that have already been completed and some that are hopefully to be completed before the start of our season. The volley ball pitch has been moved to the other side of the upper field to allow more space around the mobile homes. The new “Mini-Ardeche” links the water of the large pool to that of the baby pool. Unfortunately the walls of the mini river were made too small and we lost a lot of water during the season. This was a particular problem for us as the area was subjected to water usage restrictions. This year we will increase the size of the banks and the width of the stream to stop this and enable the children to continue to play without flooding the terrace. We had more problems than usual last year with parasols being taken out of circulation due to breakages, so the plan this year is to provide 2 parasols per mobile home, and make them both the responsibility of the clients to try to ensure that this does not happen again this year. We will have some spares for use in the pool area, but primarily the clients will be encouraged to transport their allocated parasols to and from the pool. They will form part of the inventory for the mobile homes, and breakages will need to be paid for. We shall also be relaying many of the paving slabs as the water and rain has made many of them uneven especially around the large pool and at the back of the baby pools. New Mobile Homes At long last we are now able to say good bye to our three elderly “classic” mobile homes. They were becoming very difficult to maintain to any sort of standard. We are in the process of purchasing four additional Mobile homes similar to the 2 bedroom 4 person chalet style we currently have. The Children’s Play Area We are planning on adding additional items for the 2-8 year old children to play on for 2012. Reception The old reception area was turned into a garden feature at the end of the season 2011.Further work will be undertaken to continue improvements in the bar building into 2012. Sanitaire The area to the side and front of the sanitaire will be re-paved and this will be completed to improve the access for the handicap facilities. We suffered a failure of a pump which maintained our lower cesspit last season. The temporary solution resolved the immediate problem but we have since fitted a permanent solution in the guise of a new pump and outflow. This did cause some problems for a short period of time for some of our clients not least ourselves! Tennis Courts The tennis court will be given another coat of paint and the net and fencing repaired again to stop the balls from running out of the court where the fencing has been lifted. Roads and Grounds Work is continuous with the campsite grounds: each autumn we remove 30 to 40 trailer loads of leaves, hedges need to be trimmed and dead branches from trees need to be cut. In spring the grass starts to grow and this takes us 3 or 4 of days to complete, even on the tractor, and needs regular cutting throughout the growing season of April, May and June. This year we have planted some new Pampas grass and new hedging together with some decorative plants to help improve the looks of the campsite, and will plant some more in time for the new season 2012. Three old canoes have been obtained and will be filled with plants and will be located by the tennis court |
